DEPRESSION & EMOTIONAL HEALTH

When I came to the Natural Medicine Center, my life was hopeful. I was starting a new business and was using plenty of my energy. At the same time, I felt as if the same problems and struggles I was having a year before kept resurfacing. I was tired of the same cycle and only of finding one solution. I went to a therapist for $370.00 for the first hour session. I was told my options were to continue counseling which I did and offered anti-depressants (legal drugs). Being a naturalist I knew this was the wrong decision for me. However, the pressure was very real to “fix my life” having three other family members on pharmaceuticals medications for emotional health.

At the Natural Medicine Center’s food therapy classes I learned that depression and the reproductive systems are all affected by liver weaknesses. I have drastically noticed a change in my mental health with the herbs and acupuncture I have received at the NMC Center. I think more clearly and no longer feel as if I’m fighting an invisible dark cloud. I can’t say enough about the care, love and good advice I have received here. Now life feels like it doesn’t have to be filled with struggle.

The Saturday classes about nutrition and the seasons have given me an understanding about why I’ve always been drawn to organic foods. I urge people not to base their diet and health on standard set up by the media or government approvals, and come learn a healing way to eat insuring longevity. Understanding how important it is to eat the right certified organic foods and how to prepare them have given me hope about the future of my health. The classes give someone who is willing, the knowledge to create the lifestyle many only dream of. I believe supporting organic and cruel free food sources is the first step in caring for the environment. As consumers we need to take responsibility for the processes by which foods are made and not turn a blind eye to these processes, but in order to do this we must first care about our own health.

I’d like to call myself an optimist however the realness of our saddened world seems to be facing so many of us today. For me it was my emotional health slipping into depression. For many others it is cancer, and yet I still look around to see so many people smoking in their cars. Some are denial, some are using the evil to benefit themselves, still others defend their fear of change with a closed mind about the possibilities of natural health resources alone. People should not fear change but realize the inevitable fate of loosing the chance at taking care of ourselves by valuing natural chemicals. Yes, (whole foods), organic biology (the types of foods we need as individuals) and what the earth has to offer us as a living cell.

Are we so small that we can’t imagine this planet as a living cell? Is it healthy or pore? It will be determined, just like our bodies, by what it is subject to? I wrote this not because I know answers, but because I am grateful to have found my cells more healthy by natural means.
